Judge Sentences ‘QAnon Shaman’ Jacob Chansley to Over 3 Years in Jail

A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced a man who was involved in the U.S. Capitol breach to 41 months in jail. Jacob Chansley became one of the faces of the breach after going shirtless and wearing horns and an animal skin hat into the building on Jan. 6. Chansley was facing multiple counts and pleaded guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding. The Arizona man faced up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors recommended 51 months, in part because Chansley had become so well-known during and after the breach. In court Wednesday, prosecutors argued that Chansley urging people to go to Washington before Jan. 6 should prompt a harsher sentencing. They also said Chansley not engaging in violence did not make him a peaceful person.
